Welcome to Penrith and our In-Home Elderly Care Team

While we often refer to Appleby as the beating heart of Eden Country Care, Penrith is the eyes and ears of the company. It’s where we have our head office and training centre, both ideally situated at the crossroads of the M6 and A66 at Redhills. The location provides easy access to all our home care branches across Cumbria. Much like the busy hustle and bustle of Penrith, our carers are often found at Redhills Training Centre as we make sure they are all up-to-date with the latest home care best practices.

 
 

Penrith private carer Sharon, our senior carer works closely with our office team coordinating home care in the Penrith area, but she also responds to anyone’s health issues or concerns when the office is closed. Sharon is always available to make sure clients can get the help they need. She knows each individual client in the Penrith team so if any clients need assistance out of office hours then Sharon is able to provide the right advice and support to the rest of the care team.

She says, “My Dad was a local gamekeeper, so I know lots of people in the area and it’s a privilege to care for them. My own grandfather received care from us, so I know, from a family perspective, how important it is to involve clients and their families in the care journey. Providing good quality care at home needs to include all the people in that person’s life”.
 

Private care agency senior carer Taylor, also a senior carer, provides around-the-clock support to clients and carers in the Penrith area. She is always on hand to give advice or contact other health professionals when required. Taylor has many years of care experience and works across all our branches to understand our client base and their various health conditions so that we can quickly identify opportunities for improvements. This experience has given her the skills needed to respond to a wide range of issues when she’s on-call.

She says, "I love my clients and I couldn't imagine a more rewarding job. There are so many different characters you meet and every day is different. I know that I'm making a differnece to people and cheering them up when they feel down".

Penrith is a Bustling Market Town

Penrith is renowned for being a friendly town, and much like its picturesque architecture, the people are welcoming and warm. The town has many cafés and small independent shops that welcome both young and old alike. The street life is busy but residents always find the time to stop and chat to offer a helping hand to those in need. The town offers a wide variety of events, many of them suitable for the town’s elderly residents. Not far from Penrith is Pooley Bridge and a little further from Keswick where a day trip with a walk along the banks of Ullswater or Derwentwater will rejuvenate even the oldest of souls.

If the benefits of the wonderful Cumbrian countryside need an urban top-up, Penrith offers many services to support older residents including Dance for Dementia, the Eden Memory Club, and the Sunbeams Music Trust. There are many activity groups in the town too, including The Rooms which hosts art, crafts, and exercises classes each week.

Health Services Penrith

The town has a wide range of health services including two GP practices, namely Birbeck Medical Group and the Lakes Medical Practice which are supported by a full collection of businesses like Ghylmount Dental practice, Eden Valley chiropody and podiatry, and Boots opticians. The town also has a small hospital with access to an urgent treatment centre, minor ailment services, and general medicine.
